Story

"The Award motivated me, so I applied for the things I previously hesitated about and I did not dare to apply for. For example, representing the entire department of students and leading a group of people on mountain expeditions. I would definitely recommend to every young person to participate in the Award while helping to improve their community. It's a very satisfying, interesting and entertaining programme."

Michaela received the Gold Award in 2010 while studying at the university in the UK. A graduate of Caltech and the University of Bristol, who has already managed to work for NASA and with ESA. In 2015 she got into 30 under 30 Slovak version of Forbes magazine ranking and now dreams of becoming an astronaut.

In early 2015, Michaela completed her doctorate at the University of Bristol, UK, which focuses on the application of extremophiles on astrobiology, biochemistry and consequences of global warming. Previously completed BSc and MSCI specializing in planetary science at University College London and spent a year at the California Institute of Technology through scholarship. She attended and held several teaching and research expeditions in Germany, Greenland, Japan, Spain, USA and the UK.

In broad competition she gained a place in the experiment simulated life on a space station on Mars. She worked with ESA, UK Space Agency, London Observatory and others. As a reward for her original work for NASA, she could send his signature to the real Mars in the space probe Curiosity. She worked as a volunteer for the Third Age Project in London and was the Slovak deputy to UNESCO events in Italy, Romania and Slovakia. Organizes and raises money for charity through various events, such as dance performances of 'pop-up' restaurant and a marathon run.

"Participating in this programme extremely positively changed my life. I learned a lot not only new skills, but also had immense pleasure from voluntarily helping others. The greatest reward during volunteering is the smile on the face of someone who you help and I am very glad that now I know much better how to recognize it. All the knowledge that I had developed during the program is very helpful to me again in real life, such as solving difficult problems in difficult situations and managing a team of people.

The Award motivated me, so I applied for the things I previously hesitated about and I did not dare to apply for. For example, representing the entire department of students and leading a group of people on mountain expeditions.

I would definitely recommend to every young person to participate in the Award while helping to improve their community. It's a very satisfying, interesting and entertaining programme."
